I first implemented Rootstock in 2015 as a customer, but since 2017 have been a partner, implementing Rootstock for new customers, and supporting existing customers in their use and enhancements of Rootstock.

Pros

Ease of customizability, breadth of customizability, simplicity of implementation compared to other ERPs

Cons

UI is a little out-dated, and while Rootstock is working to update to Salesforce's Lightning Experience across the board, there is still room for improvement.

Alternatives Considered

Reasons for Choosing Rootstock Manufacturing ERP

Our version of Oracle was end-of-lifed, and the cost of upgrade was as high as the initial implementation.Implementing Rootstock from scratch cost about 50% of that cost.

The fact that it lives on the Salesforce platform was a big part of our decision. We also loved that Rootstock is a smaller product which means they are more open to customer feedback.

My overall experience with Rootstock has been highly positive. It has proven to be a flexible and powerful ERP system that has significantly streamlined our manufacturing and supply chain operations. The ease of implementation, coupled with its integration with Salesforce, makes it one of the best end-to-end MRP/ERP systems I have encountered. Rootstock has been a valuable tool in managing our complex global operations effectively. It is a flexible systems making it suitable for small business all the way through to enterprises.

Pros

Rootstock was the easiest ERP system to implement and go live with. It offers extensive yet user-friendly capabilities, which made the transition smooth and efficient. The reporting features are excellent, providing valuable insights for decision-making. Additionally, the platinum support and the supportive Rootstock community have been outstanding, ensuring that any challenges are quickly addressed.

Cons

Implementing Rootstock requires significant commitment and upfront understanding from the business. Without proper preparation and dedication, the implementation process can be challenging. However, this is a common requirement for all ERP systems and is not unique to Rootstock.

Rootstock Manufacturing ERP: Unparalleled Flexibility and Scalability

Reviewed on 9/5/2024

Rootstock has been crucial in growing and evolving with our business by establishing a centralized source of truth that manages data across all of our departments and processes. As our business and industry has grown more complex, Rootstock has scaled to integrate data streams effectively, eliminating silos and enhancing data accuracy and visibility. This comprehensive access to real-time data and analytics, along with improved ERP functionalities has significantly boosted our decision-making, streamlined operational efficiency, and helped support our overall business growth.

Pros

My favorite part of Rootstock Manufacturing ERP is that it is built on the Salesforce platform which taps into Salesforce's strength and scalability. Rootstock offers a seamless, unified view across all business processes—from customer management to manufacturing and supply chain operations and everything in between. Leveraging Salesforce’s cloud infrastructure, Rootstock ERP scales efficiently with growing business demands, avoiding the need for system migration. Additionally, the robust Salesforce ecosystem enhances security and reliability, ensuring smooth and efficient business operations at all times.

Cons

Rootstock's high level of customization is beneficial for tailoring to specific business needs, however, it requires considerable internal and external resources for implementation due to its flexibility. Each customization demands extensive planning, coordination, and sometimes additional programming, making it resource-intensive. Moreover, the successful deployment of such a customizable system hinges on an organization’s readiness to embrace change, necessitating a culture open to new workflows and continual process optimization. This need for ongoing change management and resource investment can pose challenges, particularly in environments resistant to change or with slow adoption rates. Thus, while Rootstock ERP's adaptability is advantageous, it demands a strong commitment to managing and investing in change.

I came into my position with no Rootstock Manufacturing ERP experience. I appreciate the learning centers and customer support for making the transition easy on me

Pros

I appreciate the support that comes with it. While it is user friendly, there are times when I need assistance, and customer support is always quick and thorough and makes things easy to understand.

Cons

No cons that I can speak about. I have only been using the ERP for just over a year, so there may be components that I have yet to explore, but no complaints on everything that I have used to this point.

Rootstock is very open to hearing what features you believe they are missing or what they can do better. It's refreshing to have a company that listens to its customers and is trying to move in a direction that is beneficial for all.

Pros

Very user friendly and intuitive. Most features that were "missing" Rootstock had already been partnered up with other companies to fill the gap.

Cons

Financials has been the biggest hurdle to get over when using Rootstock. However, they have taken leaps and bounds in making it better and have plans to go even further. Their biggest weakness could turn into a strength in the near future

Rootstock

Reviewed on 11/4/2024

Pros

The fact that Rootstock is integrated with Salesforce makes customization easy for someone with Salesforce Admin experience. Nearly all of our business practices reside in one system now. We can provide users with information/data they could never access before. Rootforms is a great and easy-to-use printing solution. Customer Support is very helpful (although sometimes vast time zone differences can affect response times in some cases).

Cons

Because of our particular needs, we needed way more customization in Rootstock than anticipated. Our Go live date was pushed back twice and we still ran into dozens of issues upon Deployment due to these customizations. Also, almost every time there is a fix for one of our outstanding issues, we are told to upgrade to a newer version, upgrading then causes several new issues.

It helps a lot for MRP planning, and our daily logistic operation. We gain a lot of time with their inter company billing ability for creating po,so between companies automatically.

Pros

It is flexible and dont need any customization, you can able to find an answer for your all business options. Their training portal is really well structured, and they are helping you for your any problem very quickly from their community page once you create a ticket. It impacts your daily workload since it has cloning ability of pleny records once you need to create the similar ones.

Cons

Only I have difficulties to manage app authorization for the user profiles, but it is not due to Rootstock, I think it is the due to structure of Salesforce and this program has hundred of special fields due to nature.

Flexible, easy to implement and customize ERP

Reviewed on 17/8/2023

Pros

Rootstock is a full-featured ERP for a mid-tier manufacturer / distributor. Since we already use Salesforce, we were able to use existing admin / technical staff for the implementation and support of the application. Like other Salesforce applications, it is easy to customize along certain vectors such as adding additional fields to existing objects, and the native Salesforce reporting tools are very good.

Cons

Performance is slow in certain areas. This is true of many Salesforce applications, but should be optimized more here. With a smaller user base, you can't simply Google an issue you are having and find the resolution like you can with more established ERPs like SAP or Oracle or Netsuite. There aren't many implementation partners, although we found a good one. There should be more out-of-the-box reporting.

I love it. It really made our entire business flow more smoothly

Pros

That it's on Salesforce. This makes it a truly remarkably customizable product. Instead of having to change your business processes to match your software, you can change your software to match your business processes. That's a truly powerful thing.

Cons

Set up can be daunting. Because it's so customizable it does require time devoted into building it out. Fortunately, because it's built within Salesforce, the tools you have to help you customize it are relatively easy to learn.

I have had great experiences working with [sensitive content hidden] of RS in the finance area and I like that RS is constantly trying to improve the ERP product.

Pros

They are some really awesome features....Inventory related.

Cons

The accounting/finance modules are improving (RS working very hard to make better), but this area was definitely an "afterthought" during production of the ERP....but vastly improving. The fact that there are not any standard financial reports is amazing to me. RS is working on that as well.
