I started using Camtasia in the early 20 teens. It was a struggle because I was new to learning tools like this. I have used others, but remained with Camtasia. When updated versions came out they did not interrupt my ability to work or cause problems as updates can sometimes do. The tutorials make learning easy as they are clear and concise. And there are many of them!
Pros
Ease of use always!!! Even if I don’t use it for awhile when I return to using it there’s no huge learning barrier to become reacquainted.
Second would be price. It was not cost prohibitive like some others.
Cons
I don’t have anything. There are no dislikes from me.

I've been using Camtasia for years and while I have looked at other systems, I always come back to Camtasia because it remains constant, even when the latest versions are released.
Pros
The best thing I like about Camtasia is that it always stays up to date with video creation trends, so that you can always create relevant videos.
Cons
If there's a failing, it's simply the learning curve. But really, that's not a failing. It's only because there are so many cool features that it can take a while before you get into the swing of video creation. Once learnt though, it becomes a breeze.

It does what it says on the tin and whilst the UX is terrible on a new computer with hi-res screen it's still the software of choice for me until I find something better... or they address the hi-res issues and make me stay forever ;-)
Pros
It's the only tool I've tried that is easy to use and has all the features I'm ever likely to need.
Cons
Since moving to a faster computer I also have a Hi-Res screen. It's very disappointing that Camtasia has not been updated to support hi-res screens and user experience was better for me on the old computer even if it was slow.

Very positive experience using Camtasia most of the time, though I came across a few bugs and glitches when using the renderer the video editing process was great once you got used to where all the buttons are keyboard shortcuts etc.
Pros
Camtasia offer Perpetual Licenses, along with a decent support team, though the wait time for support was a few hours, once I got through they was extremely helpful
Cons
Software can be a little clunky and unituitive at times and rendering can often take a long time. It has been known to crash my computer on the odd occasion

I've made demo videos of software in under a day with Camtasia. Editing them and adding callouts is a breeze.
Pros
It's optimized for creating videos in which screen recordings of software usage predominate.
Cons
Little things, like the inability to reverse a clip (i.e. play it backwards on the timeline). The ability to export the audio to an external program, edit it there, then bring it back in, would be amazing too.

I have been using Camtasia since 2014. Each year, as presentation methods change the team at Camtasia has upgraded the software to meet the market demand. The software is updated as needed, and if you add the maintenance package, the following new version is included. My decision was based on getting by or having a professional presentation.
Pros
I especially like the ease of use, professional product look, and impact. You can find free online products that say they produce professional results, but it isn't true. The other issue is the optional add-ons like symbols and photo libraries. You can save your photos and logos within the library.
Cons
Short learning curve but like anything that looks professional it takes a bit of time to become proficient.

Overall, it’s an excellent tool. One of the things I wish the company would do is allow users to select their own premium assets instead of paying $199 for assets you may not use or need.

I really loved it at first and promoted it to others to start using it. Now, it drives me crazy that it takes me longer to create than it ever did before because of these design and UX changes.
Pros
It was pretty easy to learn and could do the basics with no problem.
Cons
The additions of Proxy and other editing features made it cumbersome to get the normal editing completed that 2022 had.

Camtasia Pro's and Con's

Overall is a good experience. It seems like a solid product built by solid people.
Pros
I find Camtasia afordable and overall functional - and having a permanent license is something I enjoy a lot - for short ownership of product is something I like a lot - and I think that is some of the coolest things about Camtasia.
Cons
In general, Camtasia is a great software, if it would not be laggy anymore, I think this would take over a lot of other products out there, so if there would be someone on product - defineltly focus on the functionality aspect of things, make it work smooth. If Camtasia would work smooth I think the number of users would start growing, other features I would keep on hold - do small improvements here and there. I would prioritize smoothness of editing - loading of assets and overall day to day operations on it. I would also probalby split the Camtasia Software as a base for editing and I would create a monetizeable library of assets for it - powered by community - with microtransactions where Camtasia keeps a certain percentage and commnunity can make money as well. This way there would be community engagement and new assets or even add-ons for editing different things.

I feel comfortable with it. I appreciate the overall UX and the functonnalities match my needs.
Pros
Camtasia has been improving a lot over the years and is still offered at a reasonable price. For me, this is a very good mark of quality in a company. I want to be able to trust and rely on a company when I invest time and money to learn their product and get comfortable with. Camtasia is a company that offers me that.
Some online tools might have become more intuitive and easy to use but they don't offer reliable technical support and other services so critical to my work. I like working with Camtasia and I trust the product.
Cons
A few years ago, the software was not so stable and was crashing on a regular basis. This very rarely happens now and I never loose anything. So again, they have invested effort in improvement and they listen to their customers' needs.

Really good! Great product if you're doing screen capture videos, and the editor interface is intuitive. Customer service is good. Fair warning on the mobile Capture app, but that's more of a nice to have than an essential feature, and other than that this is a fantastic product that's very reasonably priced.
Pros
It's easy to use, and it does a great job of all the basic things you need it to do.
Cons
The only quibble I have at all is that the mobile app (Capture) is buggy. When it works it's super useful, but it frequently doesn't work for me, which has caused me major heartache at times. It's gotten to the point where I no longer use it, as I can't afford to lose work. The downside of this is that, while I can use my iPhone's native screen recording feature, 1) that has its own bugs, namely that if I record for longer than a few minutes it'll freeze, and 2) it doesn't record sound. The only reason the sound recording aspect of Capture is useful to me when the app is working is that it allows me to visually sync my desktop and mobile Capture tracks. Basically, when I'm including mobile content in a video, it's usually overlaid on top of a desktop background. I use a condenser mic to capture high quality audio, so I don't even use the audio from the Capture app in the finished product, but it's useful to have, because I can separate the audio and video from the Capture track and visually line up the audio with the audio from my condenser mic. So this just makes my editing process a little easier. It's not that big a deal, definitely not a deal-breaker, but it would be nice if they'd address it at some point.

It does what I need most of the time, and when I put in the effort to learn, almost all the time. I wish the audio part was not so expensive. I just need some basic audio editing. I hate having to export it edited in a free tool and then bring it back. I would like to stay in one tool.
Pros
It is easy to install and get up and running. I think some of the limits are from not spending time learning. Each time I goto a FREE training I learn a lot but I really need to invest more time into learning the software. I think my videos are getting a lot better.
Cons
It doers not import video from other sources very well. I have to use handbrake to reencode stuff, which sometimes does not even work. I don't know how to import a video shot on my iPhone. It used to work, but now I get a glitchy mess.

Pros

Cons
The audio recording is terrible, I don't like how the license is tied in with a version so in order to collaborate across teams, everyone has to be on identical versions, I also don't love having to edit an old Camtasia project as a project file has a ton of directories associated and can get corrupted very easily.

Excellent -- I first used this to capture and render as video many medical presentations created in the University of Kentucky's Dept. of Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine. Later I found Camtasia very helpful in preserving, updating, and sharing my own academic/scholarly presentations; many of these from years ago were in old Powerpoint formats, which I showed at academic meetings.
Pros
I love the ease of capturing AND then modifying or enhancing my old academic or scholarly Powerpoint presentation. Once I create them in Camtasia, they are easy to share on YouTube or Vimeo or in other ways, allowing some of my older but still significant or important work to be preserved and shared!
Cons
Initial learning curve was significant, but that's true of all powerful video capture and editing platforms I have used.
