Thanks to After Effects I was able to vastly improve the final quality of our videos and webinars, supporting myself with the variety of templates found on the net for free and/or paid.
Pros
Adobe After Effects has a great ability to bring what happens in the designer's mind. It proposes almost infinite freedoms to carry out animation works such as transitions, stop motions, introductions for logos, among others. It provides results of as good quality as the designer intends, but it also solves many problems automatically thanks to the filters, effects, and shortcuts.
Cons
After Effects is very resource-intensive. It is clear that you need a fairly powerful computer to run this software, as well as to render videos. It is somewhat complex if you are not used to this kind of software. Not ideal for video editing, I prefer Premiere for this.

As an IT department intern at the University, I had the opportunity to use Adobe After Effects on several occasions for audiovisual content production. Although at first, it seemed like an overwhelming software, after some time practicing, I was able to understand its main features and create impressive animations and visual effects.
Pros
Adobe After Effects is a highly versatile software that allows you to create high-quality visual effects. It offers a wide range of tools for video post-production and animation, including options for color correction, lighting effects, motion graphics integration, among others. It also has an intuitive interface that facilitates work and allows for greater efficiency in content production.
Cons
Adobe After Effects can have a steep learning curve for beginners, and may require a significant amount of time to master its advanced features. It can also be a fairly heavy and demanding software in terms of hardware requirements, which may limit its use on certain devices.

Heavy software, can be difficult to learn

Pros
There are lots of features and you can install plugins to make your workflow faster and easier and further expand the functionality and features.
Cons
The features can also be a con, it can take a long time for a new user to get used to the interface, it's an overload and we end up trimming the interface down so there is not too much going on.
After Effects can be really heavy on your computer and is prone to crashing.
It's part of Adobe, which has some of the worst customer support in existence.

Pros
Likely the best editing software for amateur-professional video editors. It's so in-depth that I am still CONSTANTLY learning new things/features on this software and I use it almost daily. You can use it with other editing softwares as well.
Cons
It's a little hard to learn. The learning curve is steep, but once you learn the basics, it's pretty simple to catch on to new things.

I have designed logos, motion graphics for some twitch players and some induviduals who advertise their products on social media platforms
Pros
I like the flexibility of this software that it allows you to animate videos and images, and lets you combine color grade and lets you add effects to simulate fire smoke and a lot more. it can work in a studio for manipulating videos.
Cons

We have been using this software since the very beginning of our organization. It does provide the tools you might need to create any animation, or even video edits (without the convenience of other specialized video editors).
Pros
This is a full video edition solution covering almost any requirement when producing a video. Notwithstanding, the main purpose is to create animations that perform just as desired. You can begin with an already made vector or even a normal video. Honestly, possibilities are endless with this piece of software.
Cons
The user interface may be very challenging sometimes
It is expensive software, not for every budget.
The rendering system drains the resources of the computer, so it is very advised to employ a third-party software as Adobe Media Encoder.

When integrated with illustrator it makes great animations, when integrated with premiere pro it makes great videos. It can do much in both worlds, which is great!
Pros
It is really good in so many areas, from VFX to Coloring. It's the best program for animating illustrations from Adobe Illustrator as they perfectly compatible. It's used in professional cinema which shows how good it's features are.
Cons
It's not really compatible with a lot of laptops and sometimes doesn't use the GPU and instead, uses the integrated graphics. Due to it's many features, the learning curve it's really big, making it overwhelming for new users.

Highly Recommended Video Editing Software!

I would say that in my case, the pros outweigh the cons. I love this video editing software as it can do a lot of things that other editing softwares that I've used cannot do. It has many features that allow the user to express their creative freedom and be as precise as they want to be with their projects. And not to mention, the software always promotes a professional-looking finished product.
Pros
I love this software because no other editing software that I've used compares to it. No other softwares have the number of available features that After Effects does. The capability to be as precise as I can when creating transitions and animations cannot be found in any other software. I also have the creative freedom to make as many changes and alterations to video clips and images with the number of special effects that are readily available to me. Furthermore, each of those special effects can be personalized and further edited. Needless to say, the possibilities are endless with this editing software.
Cons
The few things that I don't like about this software is that it is definitely not beginner-friendly. It is very intimidating at first sight. There are a lot of panels and buttons and as someone who started off as a beginner, I was immediately scared off after my first impression. Another feature that I don't like about After Effects is the Rendering feature. The new versions of After Effects got rid of the H.264 video format (which allows users to export their videos in HD) and in order to be able to use it, Adobe Media Encoder (another Adobe software) needs to be installed. It was completely unnecessary to get rid of this one very important feature, and I think it needs to come back. Having to download a whole extra application for this feature alone is absurd as it takes up too much space on my computer.

Would say that this is the best software we found for editing and with plugins it is versatile enough to fulfill all our requirements.
Pros
We have been using After Effects for about 10 years now. We started with basic editing and with various plugins like Element 3D, we are able to create good animations all inside After Effects. I would say that there are a lot of pros:
1. Student discount and subscription model.
2. Very easy learning curve.
3. Amazing fluidity with other Adobe products.
4. Less system requirements to start.
5. Has hundreds of plugins.
6. Well documented on the Internet.
Cons
- There are various updates that occur periodically, often they might break a plugin.
- Crashes, there are at least 1-2 crashes a day.
- Bugs are still present in every iteration.
- Need Adobe Media Encoder to render.

As I have already said, I like to use Adobe software, so using After Effects became a daily part of my workflow, I feel happy with this software and it has helped me to work in a great way the post-production of my audiovisual works, giving them life and helping me to create a unique aesthetics.
Pros
I like the Adobe suite, it's practical, it incorporates software for about everything and I believe that today it's essential for any company focused on the design business.
After Effects is the proposition of this software bundle for the development and design of animations and visual effects, it's useful and has everything to create quality projects, this software is a standard for both mega-corporations and small businesses, and freelancers.
Cons
On its own, After Effects would be just another software, it's useful, but it has weaknesses, weaknesses that are compensated by utilizing other Adobe software to which we will have access.
But if what you're looking for is to have a single software that fulfills exactly the whole process of developing and editing post-production, Adobe After Effects is not for you.

Adobe After Effects is a versatile and powerful software for creating animations and special effects in video productions. With a wide range of tools and features, it's perfect for video professionals looking to add a creative touch to their projects. However, the software can be difficult to learn for new users and requires significant system resources. Overall, I recommend Adobe After Effects for its features, but I suggest new users to take their time to learn how to effectively use the software.
Pros
I used Adobe After Effects for 5 months to create animations and special effects for my video productions, and I must say I am very impressed with its versatility and features. The software offers a wide variety of tools and options for creating complex compositions, adding special effects, and enhancing the quality of video productions.I particularly enjoyed the library of pre-made effects, which allowed me to easily and quickly apply impressive effects to my compositions. The color correction and video stabilization options were also very helpful in improving the quality of my productions.Although the interface may seem complex at first, I quickly learned to navigate the software and effectively use its tools and features.
Cons
While I was impressed with Adobe After Effects' features, I found that the software has a steep learning curve. The interface can be confusing and intimidating for new users, and it took me a lot of time to figure out how to effectively use the tools and features.Additionally, the software can be very resource-intensive, which can make it challenging to use on older or less powerful computers. Render times can also be quite long, which can be frustrating when quick results are needed.

I pretty much use AE in almost everything after gathering the sequential renders from my 3d renders. And with the render passes the possibilities of making your 3d renders even more believable is boundless. And with AE's compatibility to countless plugins, working on VFX is like composing your masterpiece in a concerto. And normally, you then pass it to Video editor who uses another software for the cuts and musical score and audio syncing. But not me, I do them all in AE.
Pros
- Adds depth and realism to my 3d animations renders
- Uses exaggerated movements to enhance 3d character motion
- Removes background with ease for only just a few mouse-clicks
- Adds realism and cinematic drama to to your work
- Very plugin friendly
- And much much more!!!
Cons
The license, that you have to pay for annually. I miss the time when everything is a one-time-payment.

With after effects, I animated logos for several companies, and thanks to the software I was able to do it quite quickly. We have many possibilities of modifications once in after effects, as much for animations as for special effects. Text animations are also easy with plug-ins adapted by the software. After effects supports many formats, which helps graphic designers in their workflow.
Pros
I often have video editing missions, and I choose directly after effects, as much in the motion design as in the video editing. I can do a lot of my workflow in after affects, that's what's great. I sometimes have photo editing that I have to do in photoshop, but I import everything into after effects, where I can create folders so I don't get lost, the interface is very well designed. There are also many choices of transitions for your cuts, everyone will be happy and will find what he needs.
Cons
The names of the effects are quite specific, so if you don't know specifically what you're looking for, you can waste some time. However, a search on the right hand side will guide you through the process, and will also suggest other effects that you may not have thought of. After Effects integrates very well into any video editing process. Once you start working with this software, we can no longer do without it !

This is a great piece of software where you can feel the complexity and the robustness since it does not crash when it run out of memory or swapping space. It only gets slow. And so is the work with AFX - you need to learn how to connect the pieces together and think ahead. Know the CG basics (alpha channel, subframe rendering etc.) to star using it effectively, but after that, anything can be achieved.
You can even import basic 3D objects and work with them in postproduction. Upon finishing a projects all files can be collected and kept in a folder for future use, without having to keep the rendered outputs.
Pros
The consistency of the UI and main principles over years makes it a valuable app. But only after you figure out the main principles and start combining them. Animating or creating can be done rough or extremely precise on a frame-level.
And if you ever get the feeling that there is something missing in After Effects - there is probably a plugin or script for that which can help. + tracking tools are great.
Cons
Sometimes people can get lost in their open compositions, pre-rendered compositions, cached contend etc. So even as a seasoned user one can get lost and close a window which was not inteded to be closed.
Also there is no real particle playground.

Pros
Even though adobe effects requires more RAM to playback smoothly, I am able to still work around by adjusting the resolution sample to as low as quarter or even to a customized level. This does not affect the final product. Adobe After Effect is a layer based software and each asset can be sized up or down without necessarily cutting down long assets. I am able to employ many items and layer them appropriately on the timeline with a lot of ease.
Cons

I absolutely love After Effects been using it since version 6.5, wow, almost 16 years ago and still is one of my favorite pieces of software to create motion graphics and animations. It's th perfect companion for Adobe Premiere Pro since the integration is a core part of the video workflow that I have.

Adobe After Effects, the king of montage and VFX.
Reviewed on 11/5/2022
Pros
After Effects is a pretty powerful video editing and montage extension from Adobe, and although it's not easy to use, once mastered it can give you what many software would give you altogether.
Although After Effects doesn't have features such as creating 3D compositions from scratch, it does support templates that can be created from Blender or similar software, so it's possible to animate these 3D compositions from AE.
Another very good thing, in my opinion, are the special effects that we can create and that can be very similar to those we see in Hollywood. A huge advantage is that you can find official courses to develop your knowledge of this software, or you can try tutorials on youtube to go step by step on the way of editing and assembling.
Cons
Without a doubt, something key is learning to use AE and taking full advantage of all the functions that this software offers, so the most complex thing is learning to use it.

Pros
I have been using after effects for over 15 years, and seen it develop into a powerhouse program I use daily. With new features added every edition it's a program I have come to rely on every day.
Cons
When Adobe moved to a cloud based software ( with constant small updates) I noticed a large number of bugs , some of which take months to be fixed. I often don't update the software if I am in the middle of a project for the risk of new bugs appearing that can ruin my workflow. I would like to see Adobe do more rigours testing before rolling out large updates.
