I love Expensify, I miss it, but CORE has more features
Reviewed on 1/12/2023
Pros
User friendliness is uncomparable. Straigforward options and clear visuals.
Cons
The lack of billing, invoicing and cost tracking features. This is why we switched to CORE. I hate CORE. I love Expensify. I miss it

Expensify for Small Businesses
Reviewed on 18/6/2024
Pros
Expensify was easy to customize (both fields, and groups for employees), so we were able to use it for our exact needs and set up different parameters for different groups of employees. The mobile features are also very useful.
Cons
It would be helpful to be able to customize some of the automized report submissions, and customize various reminders to send out to employees.

Attention
Reviewed on 6/2/2024
Cons
I am writing to bring to your attention a profoundly concerning issue that I have encountered with your company's customer service procedures. It is imperative that everyone be made aware of how customers are treated within your organization.
To provide context, I recently registered an account with your company and underwent a series of verification processes. During these verifications, I was requested to obtain a letter of verification from my bank. Upon communicating with my bank, I was informed that such a letter could not be provided. Instead, we agreed to proceed with a phone verification process.
Subsequently, your support team instructed me to schedule a phone verification appointment. However, my appointment was canceled two hours prior to the scheduled time without explanation. I was then asked to undergo the verification process again, including re-uploading my identification documents. Despite completing these steps, I was still asked to provide verification using another form of identification, despite having already used my California Real ID.
Feeling increasingly disappointed and frustrated after three days of continuous demands for documents and unreasonable requests, I expressed my frustration by using the F-word twice. Regrettably, a representative from your company responded by threatening to discontinue service and implied transferring my case to another support member. However, when I requested assistance from another support member, I was told, "I'm not going to assign you to anyone else in our team until you're able to avoid being aggressive with our team."
I wish to emphasize that my use of inappropriate language was limited to two instances of the F-word. Furthermore, I was assured that your company does not have managers, and I was refused the opportunity to be assigned to another support team member. Subsequently, the support chat was abruptly terminated, and I have been unable to locate a valid telephone number for further communication.
It is deeply concerning that, despite providing personal and banking information, as well as linking my bank account, I was subjected to punitive measures for the use of mild profanity. This treatment is entirely disproportionate and unacceptable.
I am formally requesting a thorough investigation into this matter and appropriate action to rectify the situation. Additionally, I expect assurance that my account and personal information are handled with the utmost respect and security.
I anticipate your prompt attention to this issue and a satisfactory resolution. Please contact me at your earliest convenience to discuss further.

Overall experience has been *terrible*. I will never ever use this service again nor recommend it to anyone.
Pros
I am the founder/CEO of my company, and adopted expensify because it was simple and easy-to-use, and largely automated expenses/reimbursement and financial reporting of same.
Cons
Unfortunately, something bad has happened to this company since those early days.First, they started putting up these really confusingly-labeled buttons which, if clicked, would automatically opt you in to using their new credit card product. And after I accidentally clicked one of those buttons, there was *no way* to undo it and every employee at my company was emailed a credit card! It was a huge fiasco. We decided to stop using Expensify due to these issues, as well as poor support, at the end of 2022. However, since our cancellation request arrived a few days *after* Jan 1 2023, they refused to cancel our account and continued to charge us over $1400 despite us not using the service at all. Eventually I had to contest the charges and ask our credit card issuer to deny future charges from expensify.

Terrible implementation experience: Expensify is not taking ownership of an incomplete implementation. Iam writing this poor review out of exasperation with their poor customer support.
Pros
In evaluating this solution, we liked the demonstrated functionality, relatively low cost, and credit card offering.
Cons
The implementation experience has been terrible. The approach is not well organized. Early on we had problems "whitelisting" the Expensify ACH codes which we quickly rectified on our end, but it took Expensify nearly 10 days to restore related services. Then for some reason the integration with Xero stopped working in late March and one month later is has not been resolved. The only human we can speak with is our implementation coordinator which is frustrating because this is clearly a technical issue. I have asked on multiple occasions to speak with someone who can solve this issue only to be told that there is no one else I can speak with. Unacceptable.

It was fine until I tried downgrading my account and then it became a nightmare.
Pros
System was somewhat easy to use. The receipt scanning feature was also pretty cool.
Cons
I have been a paying customer of Expensify since 2019, but I stopped using it in December 2021 to move to a solution that worked better for my company. I kept one seat open for over 18 months because I thought I needed to do that to maintain the data. Once I found out it was possible to go to a free account without losing my data, I went to go and process the downgrade. I was shocked to find that they charge an additional monthly fee no matter what time of the month you downgrade the account! In my case, I downgraded the day after I was billed. No proration, and later found out that there was no refund - despite their "Concierge" giving me instructions on how to process a refund - only to find out I wasn't actually eligible... but they still wouldn't make it right. Their "Concierge" has no accountability - you can't get in touch with leadership. They just don't care anymore.

Easy tool for expense reporting
Reviewed on 27/5/2024
Pros
Super intuitive platform - can upload receipts for scanning or manually uplaod an expense and details. Then as a user, all you need to do is submit and your company should have it set up to go to all the relevant stakeholders to approve before you get paid back.
Cons
Sometimes it's easy to think you've submitted an expense, when it actually it hasn't gone through. But, you'll usually get a reminder email telling you to submit anyway.

Simplifies a painful process
Reviewed on 9/1/2024
Pros
Once you've got the hang of using it, Expensify will make managing expenses simple. I've done the same thing with paper, spreadsheets and Concur and the experiences were terrible and mistake ridden. Just put everything through expensify and forget about it. If you've missed something or have an action to complete expensify will get in touch to prompt you with clear instructions.
Cons
There is a bit of learning curve. I find the UI quite sparse and until you get the hang of what is where it's not always clear how to complete tasks with it. I have found that once you have learned what you're doing though, you don't foget because it's not actually that complicated.

Pros
Accounting system integration is pretty simple to set up.
Cons
Support never seems to know how to help, throws up their hands usually. Workflow is frustrating - never quite sure how the routing is working. Forces you to set up multiple domains to have multiple accounts at the same institution.

Overall, our experience with Expensify has been very positive. It has streamlined the way we track expenses and reiumbursements and has helped clean up a lot of the discrepancies we dealt with previously.
Pros
What we like the most is how simple Expensify makes it to track expenses, keep receipt information, and submit expense reports. The App is very user friendly and intuitive and does most of the work for you.
Cons
The only critique I have of expensify is that the GPS feature for tracking mileage does not always perform properly. We have been reluctant to use it after experiencing several glitches.

Overall, it's been a good experience, coming from a largely monotonous and paper pushing way of uploading and creating receipts. However, we do expect further customization and improvement of the platform given the investment made into it
Pros
Expensify has an easy to use interface, which is helpful for non-tech savvy people like myself. It has cross platform support including a mobile application. It also allows to quickly generate receipts, greatly simplifying the process which would otherwise have taken us days
Cons
The user experience could've been better. Although cost is not something I have to worry about immediately, it could be a bottleneck for some users as it limits the usage per cost tier. Data privacy and loss are also a consideration, given we're dealing with critical financial data

I like the ease of use, and lack of flashiness of Expensify. Mobile seems to work well, and the receipt scanning is quick often.
Cons

Pros
I like the modern user interface. Also like the feature that I can set custom unit tracking and autofill expense from picture upload
Cons
Was complicated to send expenses first time. Why I need to create a report and then add one expense to it? I used other platform where I was able just to create an expense and send it for review without extra steps.
