A Good Video Conferencing Platform, Simple and Easy to Use

I think this service is good for what it is, but our company is looking into new platforms to have video conferences due to privacy concerns and the pricing.

Pros

I would say a major advantage to this platform is that I usually don't have connectivity issues. Granted a major part is related to your internet service however, I had significant problems with connection issues on other platforms & I still have the same internet provider.

The free version was good as well, with up to 40 minutes of a free usage for a video conference. I believe it has gotten popular because of this feature, and how simple it is to set up a meeting.

Cons

One thing I dislike is that when you want to exit the meeting, you have to assign a host or else the entire meeting terminates which is quite frankly annoying. I've accidentally ended important business calls because I had to go, and it doesn't automatically assign someone else as the host.

Just be wary that if you're the host but you have to leave, you need to assign someone else as the host.

Another thing to be wary of is that this platform does track your information and you, as the user, have to make sure that you read their privacy concerns.

Google Meet

Reasons for Switching to Zoom Events and Webinars

Google Meet doesn't have a separate application, it's just a tab on Google chrome & sometimes, I find it difficult to locate where the Google Meet tab is, whereas I prefer being able to look at other tabs, and also see the video conference screen.

Zoom webinars app for government organization

All in all, I like using Zoom, but shifted from Zoom to Google meets, since it is simpler tool for simple meetings. So, I not longer host zoom meetings or webinars unless I am asked precisely for zoom. But if I need a secure webinar for large groups of people, I use other tools, due to pricing and security reasons.
Also, deeper integration with MS Outlook would be nice.

Pros

The most critical and most liked function of Zoom is that I do not need any difficult installation of the app to use it. Also, I do not need any login or account creation to host meetings. Quite simple implementation. Also, what is very good that I can create Outlook events and other users when they get the invitation, they get an Outlook notification and it enters their calendar.

Cons

The most disappointing thing is the duration of meeting restriction. I understand it, since it is a paid program. But what bugs me, is that when creating a free meeting, I can not choose duration of 45 minutes, but only 30 minutes, even when the meeting will be 45 minutes. Only 30 or 60 minutes, nothing in between.
Another issue is the time zone control. For example I could not find VIlnius city in the time zone selector. It should include major cities or it should capture my time zone automatically.

Better Than Many of Their Competitors, but Not Great

While Zoom is far from perfect, they are infinitely better than so many of their competitors that you can forget about most of their shortcomings. Except for one major one - their user interface. It's horrible. And I have not noticed any discernable upgrades or enhancements to really any aspect of their product over time. It appears they have a If It's Not Broke Don't Fix It philosophy, but there are things that maybe aren't broken but have major room for improvement.

Pros

Of all the video conferencing tools out there - and there is no shortage of them, either past or present - I have to say that Zoom works probably the best as far as logging in and everything working. Everybody who has ever attended a video conference knows the headache and utter waste of time known as "technical difficulties" especially those that arise at beginning of any video conference. This person's video isn't working; that person can't hear. You keep getting disconnected. Zoom somehow avoids this most of the time and that rarest of all things usually occurs - video conferences start on time.

Cons

If you have any more than say three - max four - participants, you're going to go crazy trying to include and see everybody at once. Yes, it's okay when whoever is speaking is shown front and center, but when you're speaking and want to gauge everyone's expression and just see everybody as though you are in the same room with in person, Zoom's Brady Bunch opening from Hell interface will literally drive you mad.

Zoom had a larger presence in the industry and people are more apt to participate if it's with a product they know.
