It’s time to move work out of disjointed spreadsheets and email, and empower teams to collaborate and communicate more effectively. With Asana, it doesn't matter how many different teams or departments are coming together on a project—they can share context and assign ownership with tasks, combine related work, share files, get instant updates and build effective cross-functional workflows.
In Asana, users can track the status of initiatives with ease, and get an accurate view of how they're progressing towards goals. Report on project progress in minutes with real-time work reporting to create visibility for teams and stakeholders.
Key benefits of Asana
- Connect Goals with the tasks needed to achieve them.
- Organize and connect work intuitively so that every task, message, project, portfolio and goal is accessible.
- Share the same task across multiple projects to avoid duplicating efforts, maximize team efficiency and strengthen cross-functional collaboration.
- Streamline processes across teams, make sure teams don’t miss critical steps, and deliver value faster with automations.
- Report on project progress in minutes with real-time work reporting. Share Portfolios of projects with stakeholders to give visibility into the real-time status, priority, and progress of projects.
- Track the status of initiatives with project Portfolios to get an accurate view of how users are tracking towards goals.
- Use My Tasks to plan the day with a prioritized to-do list.
- Organize work the right way and view projects as lists or kanban boards. Use the Timeline view to see how each piece of the project fits together to hit deadlines.
- Comment directly on a task and clarify exactly what needs to be done. Mention teammates or other work in Asana so everyone and everything stays connected.
- Limit access to any project, create hidden teams for sensitive work, or make public teams and projects for the entire organization.
- Designate Organization admins who can add, remove, and manage members and their settings, and enforce password complexity. Asana Enterprise customers have additional controls with SAML and our Admin API.
- Integrate with other tools the team already uses, like G Suite, Slack, Microsoft, Chrome, Github, and more.
- Track work and stay up to date on the go with Asana’s mobile app. Just like the web app, teams can use it to create tasks and projects, have conversations, and get updates on progress.

Ideal for complex orgs and team collaboration, although too much for the simplest use cases

I've used Asana for many years at multiple companies, and I've never lacked any critical feature regardless of how complex the collaboration was among the teams. The positive impact is multiplied when everyone uses it, across multiple teams, including intake forms, and cross-functional project management.
Pros
I love Asana for managing multiple complex projects at the same time. I've used several similar tools, and it's the best I've seen so far. The ability to have a complex hierarchy, timing, sub-tasks, different owners, multiple projects and timelines, project templates... is everything you need. As a product marketing leader it was essential to collaborate with multiple teams at the same time to launch new products, with a very specific timeline involved in each project. Some of these projects were also periodically repeated (e.g. product releases, or content updates), so the ability to create a very detailed template including the timeline itself was essential to our success as a company.
Cons
If there's something I don't like is the unnecessary complexity it creates when individually you also want to use it for your own tasks. Everything ends up buried in an ocean of notifications and multiple tasks from other projects, so it was hard to keep up. Most recently at my last company, we had to switch to Trello because not every team across the company was using Asana. That was a terrible decision and we ended up switching to yet another tool.

A company I freelance for uses Asana and thus I do. It keeps me apprised of the projects I'm assigned from this company, but other than that I don't find it very useful.
Pros
The messaging function in Asana is ok--it's fairly easy to use.
Cons
I find the interface impossible to read and make sense of. There is way too much going on; I can't really put my finger on it, but it just seems unintuitive to me. I never know if I'm supposed to check off tasks that I've completed or if my supervisors are (they are the ones managing the tasks, after all).

I really do love Asana since day one, I have tested any PM system implemented by several clients, and none of them have the user-friendly platform and at the same time good tracking of each project and task, Asana makes my professional life easier day after day!! :)
Pros
I can have the best and easiest way to track each project and task, without getting loose in a system!!! Also you can have the free version to test it while you fall in love with it :)
Cons
The reports look fantastic, I will add just some more reports templates so we can easily export them :)

Very practical for team project management. What's more, it's easy to send and monitor project templates and comment on tasks. It's almost like an instant messaging application. However, in future versions, we really need to work on lifting the maximum file size limit.
Pros
It's good software for teamwork. It is possible to assign tasks to team members and follow up on deadlines.
Cons
Notifications can be invasive, and it's not easy to deactivate them. In addition, the file size per job is very limited. This sometimes forces you to look for other alternatives for sending large files.
